Following 36 years as a trial lawyer, I have begun a second career as a neutral, providing both mediation and arbitration services for companies in intellectual property, construction and other business-related disputes. Experience in the courtroom sharpens one’s view of the benefits dispute resolution offers. In the hands of the right neutral, it can be less expensive, speedier, confidential and effective.
I am a NCDRC Certified Superior Court Mediator. I am also certified to mediate in the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina. I conduct mediations of business disputes. Those mediations can be remote or in person, court-ordered or party selected.
I have experience with solo and panel arbitrations. I have worked with several of the large arbitration administrators.
The pandemic has created backlogs in most jurisdictions. A court-appointed neutral can assist the trial judge by overseeing discovery and motions. This service is particularly effective in IP and construction cases.
I have litigated, mediated and arbitrated business disputes across industries, states and countries for 36 years. I am a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. I have tried approximately 50 business cases to verdict, including more than a dozen IP cases.
